Siddhartha Academy began its activities in 1975 by founding a much needed Arts and Science college. It was later renamed as Parvataneni Brahmayya Siddhartha College of Arts & Science. It had the illustrious and venerable name of Sri. Anne Radha Krishna Murthy as the first Principal.
Siddhartha College started in 1975 with B.A and B.Com. courses affiliated to Andhra University and subsequently transferred to Acharya Nagarjuna University. B.Sc. courses were subsequently introduced. The college was renamed as ‘Parvathaneni Brahmayya Siddhartha College of Arts & Science’ in 1983 by the then Hon. Chief Minister Sri N. T. Rama Rao. Later a P.G. center was started offering M.B.A., M.Com., M.Sc., (Electronics), M.Sc. (Mathematics), M.Sc. (Computer Science), M.C.A., M.A. (English), M.Sc (Chemistry) and M.Sc. (Physics). The college has earned enviable reputation on all fronts. The students both inland and abroad have won a good name for themselves and fame for the institution in cultural, curricular, extra - curricular and sports activities, adding new dimension to the college year after year. Some of the students of the college have carved a niche for themselves among their fraternity all over the state, by winning scores of prizes in Quiz, Debating, Elocution and Sports.
In accordance with the New Education policy 1986, UGC granted autonomy to the college in the year 1988 and the college has been working in that pattern since the academic year 1988-’ 89. While the college remains affiliated to Acharya Nagarjuna University for conferment of degrees, it exercises autonomy in framing courses of study, admission of students, methods of instruction, testing and evaluation. Students passing the examinations conducted by the college are awarded degrees by Acharya Nagarjuna University.

LIBRARY INFORMATION & SCIENCE CENTRE :
The college has a prestigious computerized central library with an excellent collection of text books, reference books, journals, periodicals, magazines, subject CBTs and databases, encyclopedias and dictionaries. The library is extending other services, such as free internet facility to staff and students. Career guidance cell, Audiovisual reprographic center (AVRC), Photocopier, Career clipping, Display of new arrivals etc are part of the library infrastructure.
Spacious laboratories in all the Science Departments equipped with modern scientific equipment exist in the college. Further, the laboratories for Biological Sciences are supplemented by museums. The Zoology museum contains more than 1200 preserved specimens and 400 slides whereas the Botany museum has about 800 specimens and 200 microslides, besides a large number of instructional charts. “Our college bagged Best Laboratories Award from Acharya Nagarjuna University”.'
Electronics Laboratory :
The Department has 4 well equipped laboratories to meet its curricular needs. The department has sophisticated signal generators, Oscilloscopes, logical analyzers, IC testers, Digital and analog ICs, EPROM copier, Microcontroller, UV eraser, Microprocessor interface kits, Computer aided television tutor, pattern generator, Fiber Optic communication kit, visual charts, Audio and Video environment, OHP and CBTs etc., The Electronics department has established a separate computer lab to train the students on simulation software like Multisim, Mat Lab etc.
English Language Laboratory :
A resourceful 30 system English Language Laboratory has been established to help the students practice their communication skills. The necessary hardware and software procured is user friendly and need based.
Computer Centre :
The computer centre is well equipped with 95 Pentium machines, 2 Windows NT servers and 2 ovell Netware server connected in LAN. To facilitate effective teaching-learning process, the laboratory is equipped with an LCD projector, direct projector and a good number of CBTs. Apart from these hardware facilities, the lab is provided with licensed software that includes operating systems, packages like SPSS, Tally and compilers for Borland C, C++, SUN JAVA etc.
Microbiology, Biochemistry, Genetics Labs :
Four new labs are developed with latest equipment like Spectra photometer, Turbidity meter, Laminar Air flow system, Electrophoresis system, Distillation units, Auto claves, Incubators, Salina meter, Soil & water PH meters, Photo electric colorimeter, Haemocytometers, Slide projector, Over head projector, B.O.D. incubator, Muffle furnace, Deep freezer, Sieve shaker, Binocular & Research microscopes, Hot air ovens etc.
HOSTEL ACCOMMODATION :
Hostel accommodation is provided separately for boys and girls. Separate application must be submitted for admission into the hostel, after getting admission in the college.
CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES -----------------------------:
GAMES & SPORTS :
A good play ground exists on the campus for games such as Cricket, Foot ball, Volley ball, Basket ball and Athletics. Siddhartha Indoor Stadium, which is also situated on the college campus provides facilities for indoor activities such as Table - Tennis, Shuttle Badminton, Weight Lifting etc. A modern multi- gym in two frames containing 16 stations has been installed. In addition, there are some stand alone stations. Students are trained to participate in intramural and extramural competitions. Incentives by way of fee concessions are offered by- the Management to the students participating in District, State, University and National level Tournaments.
NATIONAL CADET CORPS :
The college has three units of N.C.C. (Infantry, R&V and Navy). NCC cadets represent our college in the Republic Day parade and other prestigious camps every year.
NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME :
The college has two units managed by two Programme Officers. Students are encouraged to join N.S.S. Our N.S.S. students are actively involved in Clean & Green, Pulse Polio, Janmabhoomi programmes and other social service activities.
CULTURAL AND LITERARY ACTIVITIES :
Two lecturers look after the cultural and Co-Curricular activities. Students of this college excel in inter-collegiate and state level competitions. Each student should participate in NSS or Games and Sports or Cultural or Eco club or Heritage club or Co-Curricular activities under Part-IV.
